The Agenda for next Tuesday’s meeting was put out this morning….Excellent stuff!

For starters, it looks like a pretty tame regular agenda – a couple of groups want permission to serve alcohol outdoors, some street repair and pretty ho-hum contract stuff.

Then we get to item #9: “Resolution authorizing Agreement with local bank Institutions for Decatur “HOME” Buyer Down Payment Assistance Program”.

Yep, it’s the 5th Monday of the month, but there’s no Council Meeting tonight.

Even so, there are some odds and ends I’d like to yak a little about.

Believe it or not, yesterday was the first day candidates could pick up petitions for April 2011 Decatur City Council and Mayoral races.  Oh, how time flies!!!

Question number one:  Think I should give it another shot? ;-)  Question number two, will I still have a wife to come home to if I do? :-D  Question number three: Whatever happened to ChangeDecatur?

No, seriously –

Anyone who’s seen me in the last few years knows I can stand to lose some weight so Saturday we drove out to Allerton Park for a walk.  For those who didn’t know, there is a new bakery in Cerro Gordo – we sampled some freshly made oatmeal bread – very good!  What did I say about losing weight?

I’m pretty sure I will be going to the council meeting tonight.

At first blush the regular agenda appears to be a pretty benign thing.  There is potential to cover good stuff in the study session.  Unless councilman Laegeler wants to comment on the numbers the meeting will probably be over by 6:00pm (it starts at 5:30).

Is Tate and Lyle moving to Hoffman Estates or not?  The story in today’s H&R makes it sound like the decision has not been made, but the story in Chicago Business spins a very different tale.  The Crain’s story suggests they could be gone a soon as the second-half of 2011 (about a year from now).

I’m 95% sure I’m not going tonight, here’s a link to the agenda

And I do have a few comments/thoughts:

Let's get a few semi-random observations out of the way:
The new president of CONO (still can't remember the guy's name)
A short ramble on what I've been doing, and some completely pointless (my opinion) local groups
And finally my TV-based opinion of the state of the Decatur City Council

I've got a little free time, and the urge to post is really building up, so...

Where to start?

In no particular order:
  • CONO's new president...Ummmm.
  • The City Council...Why I stopped going to meetings.
  • Adam Brown for which office?
  • The economy, local jobs, the Economic Development Council, Chamber of Commerce.
  • Tea Party Republicans.
  • What's up with the local Democrats?
  • Personal observations and conclusions that no-one cares about, but I will share anyway.

So many to choose from!

I may have time to go to the Council meeting tonight – I have a regular meeting, but I hope it will be on the short side.  (Winding them down for a while, I hope!)

A quick look at the agenda suggests:
