Some of our most productive and interesting conversations have come from open threads where almost anything goes. Speaker's Corner is a topic that is dedicated to open-conversation about almost anything that's on your mind.
The real Speaker's Corner is located in the north-east corner of London's Hyde Park where public speaking is allowed. There is no immunity from the law at speaker's corner, and while the police tend to be tolerant, they do not allow profanity or unlawful behavior.
You may be jeered, ridiculed, enthusiastically supported, or completely ignored.
Now, what's on your mind?
The site is back to normal. There's a new little linux box in the basement, running the latest versions of all the software (CentOS 5.2, Firebird 2.1.1, Java 6, and Tomcat 6). Hardware wise, there's a new 60Gb HDD, a new Asus M2N68 motherboard, Athlon X2 BE-2400 CPU, and 1Gb memory.
For those not to impressed with my choice of hardware, it's “right-sized”...I've got a 768kpbs-uplink to the internet, and a lot of fancy stuff on a bandwitdh-constrained public-facing server dosen't make much sense.
OK - so with that, let's get back to chatting! (and I'm glad to have my main development machine that-had-been-filling-in-as-the-server back!!!)
Hey, I just received a robo poll for the City Council 4 year seat. Anyone want 'fess up to the paying for the poll? For what it's worth, I picked the candidate I'm least likely to vote for. Lol – just doin' my part! ;-)
