Not that it ever really ends! ;-) Tonight Tim Dudley will be at a meet-and-greet at the IBEW hall (3390 North Woodford) from 4-7. Tim is running for the State Senate seat in the 51st district, and you can learn more about him here: http://www.timdudley.com/ We'll probably pop in about 6 or so to see what's up, and chat a bit. If you don't know Tim (lol – or even if you do!), I encourage you to go say hello.

A little personal spin: First, Tim was one of the first “friendly faces” to welcome my wife and I when we moved in to town. Since then, we've agreed and disagreed on various issues – which is probably a good thing. I must say I believe our differences came from genuine, and (here comes a loaded word) legitimate points of view – not personality conflicts.
I mention this because I think the mark of a good public representative is the ability to remain “issue-based”, and not “personality-based” (it's that whole “disagree without being disagreeable” thing). |

I'm not a fan of Kyle McCarter.
His penchant for outsourcing to China is unpatriotic, and in my mind puts him at the bottom of the list of people I consider fit to represent the Citizens of the 51st Senate District if State of Illinois (which is in the USA, by the way Senator McCarter!). I heard him deliver one speech on his “get to know the district” tour...You know the speech: The standard Republican “Eliminate taxes....Eliminate regulation...Government is the problem” one that every Republican running for dog-catcher on up has been parroting since th late 1970's. I must say, however, I'd never heard it delivered with such a lack of feeling. I remember leaving thinking...gee...If you're going to "phone it in" why not litteraly use the telephone and save yourself a drive.
In short, I don't like the way Kyle McCarter does business, I'm underwhelmed by his personality, and I don't see him as a credible representative in Springfield....Beijing China, maybe, but not Springfield, Illinois...
