The Agenda for next Tuesday’s meeting was put out this morning….Excellent stuff!

For starters, it looks like a pretty tame regular agenda – a couple of groups want permission to serve alcohol outdoors, some street repair and pretty ho-hum contract stuff.

Then we get to item #9: “Resolution authorizing Agreement with local bank Institutions for Decatur “HOME” Buyer Down Payment Assistance Program”.

Yep, it’s the 5th Monday of the month, but there’s no Council Meeting tonight.

Even so, there are some odds and ends I’d like to yak a little about.

Believe it or not, yesterday was the first day candidates could pick up petitions for April 2011 Decatur City Council and Mayoral races.  Oh, how time flies!!!

Question number one:  Think I should give it another shot? ;-)  Question number two, will I still have a wife to come home to if I do? :-D  Question number three: Whatever happened to ChangeDecatur?

No, seriously –

Anyone who’s seen me in the last few years knows I can stand to lose some weight so Saturday we drove out to Allerton Park for a walk.  For those who didn’t know, there is a new bakery in Cerro Gordo – we sampled some freshly made oatmeal bread – very good!  What did I say about losing weight?

dec August 16 Council Meeting
Full Story by matthew on Mon Aug 16 11:31:42 CDT 2010 Comments 10

I’m pretty sure I will be going to the council meeting tonight.

At first blush the regular agenda appears to be a pretty benign thing.  There is potential to cover good stuff in the study session.  Unless councilman Laegeler wants to comment on the numbers the meeting will probably be over by 6:00pm (it starts at 5:30).

As reluctant as I am to say it, the Illinois TEA partiers do have one point:  It would be nice to take another look at the income tax policy in Illinois.
